Roger ISON was born in Quy in 1899 (Chesterton Q1-1899 3B:457), son of Josiah and Charlotte ISON (née WRIGHT).

1901 census...Aged 2, he was at Stow End, Quy with his father Josiah ISON [35] shepherd; his mother Charlotte [33]; brothers Herbert [7], Harold [5],Joseph F [6 months]; sister Florence [4]. All were born in Stow cum Quy.

1911 census...Aged 12, he was a patient in Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, together with his sister Florence Elizabeth. His parents were at Stow End still, with brothers Herbert Josiah(farm labourer), Joseph Frank, George [5] and John [3 months]; sisters Ellen [7] and Ethel[4]. All 9 siblings survive.

His brother Harold ISON was killed in Belgium in 1917 serving in the Cambridgeshire Regiment... click here ...and cousin Frank ISON died in Salonika in 1918, serving in Welsh Regiment....click here



He enlisted in Cambridge.

His Army service records are not available so it is impossible to say where exactly, or when, he was wounded. The battalion had been in the Ypres salient at that time
